Dr. Drew Announces His Campaign for the Orange County Republican Central Committee

As you may know, I've decided to run for the Orange County Republican Central Committee. This group is the official, grass-roots level representative of the Republican voters in our community and is charged with supporting our candidates and building the strength of the local Republican party.

As a Tea Party activist, I think this is an important place for folks like me - constitutional conservatives - to make sure that our voices are heard among a party aparatus that sometimes seems to concerned about protecting flawed incumbents - like the disgraced Sheriff Corona - or the out of control party member who demonstrated violent threats against the Hon. Deb Pauley. The role of the OCGOP is too important to be distracted by the unhealthy remenants of the past.

In my brief time as an alternate at the OCGOP, I've seen some startling and unpleasant things about the local Republican Orange County Central Committee. I've seen many members of the committee rubber stamp the outrageous behavior of out of touch political leaders like Rep. Campbell who voted down DADT and supported TARP in complete disregard for the interestes of the Republican majority within our district.

It looks to me like the local GOP has given up on winning statewide offices and seems content to see the Republican party reflect and tiny, declining share of the electorate rather than aggressively seeking out swing voters, chipping off elements of the Democrat party coalition, and using the new election rules to restore the power and influence of conservative ideology in the state of California.

All in all, I'm proud to be part of a larger effort to bring to our local Republican party the enduring values of Faith, Family and Freedom. I'm looking forward to articulating a constitutional conservative point of view which my training and experience as a political science professor has trained me to do. As you may know, I'm a writer for American Thinker and David Horowitz's Front Page Magazine. I'm an ex-Marxist socialist who knew the young Obama and has been willing to risk everything to get out the news of young Obama's ideological extremism to the general public.
